Professionnal experience: -
• I have been working in the financial service industry for 23 years.
• This experience has been acquired through 4 different employers (National Bank of Canada, Allianz, AIG Life/ALICO) and AXA - seven companies and 5 countries (in Europe and the Middle East).
• I covered a wide spectrum of the financial industry, since I started with banking (corporate and retail) - evolved to Bancassurance (Individual & Corporate) – got a strong exposure to Asset Management – and finally Insurance (Life and General, for both Individual and Corporate clients) - conventional and Takaful (Islamic).
• With these 4 diverse employers – 5 countries and 7 assignments, I led engagements addressing: - Business Development – Business Process Improvement – two Start ups – an Acquisition followed by a Merger integration – Strategy - Change Management Programs - an Initial Public Offering – and a complex Re-engineering program over 5 countries and a work force of 1400 people.
• Throughout these missions, I covered the whole spectrum of roles and responsibilities, from Sales and Marketing to Operations, via HR - Finance - Asset Management, up to GM and CEO positions, always bringing new ideas and adding value ...
• 13 out of these 23 years where indeed spent in 5 GM/CEO positions in 4 different companies and in 3 different groups (Allianz - AIG/ALICO - AXA).
• I am considered as a hands on expert in leading major strategic, operational and organizational transformation (or organizational set – up for start – ups) in the financial service industry and more specifically insurance.

• Continue "building" new businesses - reengineering companies, or even better, doing both at the same time.
• Working for demanding institutions, with a clear Vision and Mission, really promoting Ethics as a competitive edge for sustainable growth and rewarding value added at its true worth.

In charge of the market entry strategy in Egypt (buying out companies and/or launching greefields), as well as other strategic missions in other countries in the MENA region.
2008 - 2010• Methaq is a public company listed in may, 2008 on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. We promote innovative General Takaful services in the UAE, designed for Individuals and SMEs, through an advanced IT platform. We tailor make products and services to each distribution channel and Partner (Bancatakaful, Conventional insurance companies, Brokers, Branches, Financial Advisors, Direct Marketing,...). Distribution Partners are supported by a highly developed web environment allowing them to consult, transact, monitor, etc their portfolio and policies in a very effective manner.
• Methaq's strategy is to develop as a Regional Takaful Group of companies.
2007 - 2008• I was hired from the Allianz Group (KSA) at a time ALICO Gulf needed to enhance its infrastructure and organization to support its fast business growth.
• Audited the organization in 5 countries: UAE – Kuwait – Bahrain – Qatar – Oman.
• Launched first some key initiatives like: refocusing on core missions, improving turn around time at Underwriting and more globally at Operations, and enhancing Controls.
• Launched then a Re-engineering Plan aiming at bringing medium to long term improvements, especialy accelerating automation and the implementation of new IT solutions.
• In parallel, spurred on the modernization of the 4 Distribution Channels and launched a number of initiatives to develop in new markets.
2004 - 2007• Allianz Saudi Fransi (ASF) is a Life and General joint venture between Banque Saudi Fransi (Calyon Group) and Assurances Générales de France (Allianz Group) in Saudi Arabia.
• Took over and re-engineered Insaudi Insurance Company, a Bahraini company operating in Saudi Arabia, acquired end 2004 to serve as the basis for the launch of ASF.
• Launched ASF as a new company backed by a fully integrated IT system able to support strong growth, both in the Corporate and Personal markets. (Business multiplied by 15 and profitability achieved 3 years after Insaudi was bought).
• ASF was the first "foreign" company to be IPOed. IPO was subscribed 6 times – market value reached 967% in 3 months.
• Launched a new range of products (life/Takaful and non life/Taaounia).
